Dr. Ruth Rios-Morales, Deputy Director of Research and Lecturer in Finance and Statistics of LRG- University of Applied Sciences, has been awarded with the Emerald Literati Network Award for Excellence 2011.

She received the price for her paper ‘The emergence of Chinese investment in Europe’, published in 2010 by the EuroMed Journal of Business.

This award is a high recognition for academic research, not only for me and my coauthor Louis Brennan, but for LRG-UAS as the paper carries the LRG-UAS banner’, said Dr. Ruth Rios-Morales.

‘The paper addresses a very topical issue in the world of international business and finance. Much has been said about Chinese investment in Africa or Latin America but little in Europe. The paper has challenged the conventional theories of international investment and we have built up a new model which incorporates governmental influences on foreign direct investment.

Every year the Emerald Group Publishing Limited  invites each journal’s Editorial Team to nominate what they believe has been that title’s Outstanding Paper and up to three Highly Commended Papers from the previous 12 months.

The award winning papers are chosen following consultation amongst the journal’s Editorial Team, many of whom are eminent academics or managers.

The paper of Dr. Ruth Rios-Morales has been selected as it was one of the most impressive pieces of work the team has seen throughout 2010. The Awards presentation will be taking place during the summer of 2011.
