MASTER OF ADVANCED STUDIES

LRG University of Applied Sciences is pleased to offer two graduate programmes for the Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) qualification, recognized by the Swiss federation. The MAS is available to bachelor degree holders, working professionals and mature students as a full-time or part-time program.

 

A Master of Advanced Studies is a post graduate program that is part of the European university system which is used in Switzerland. This one-year programme is similar to an MBA which concentrates on building critical thinking skills, business research methodologies and analytical skills important in strategic management.  

 

Master of Advanced Studies
in Hospitality Management (60ECTS)
 
Specialisation in Leadership or Marketing
Master of Advanced Studies
in Hospitality Business Management (60ECTS)
Specialisation in Finance or Marketing

 

  • Campus: Bulle
  • Start Date: July every year
  • Duration: 32 week minimum programme of study. Students may be Full Time or Part Time.
  • Admissions Criteria: Students must have an English level of 575 TOEFL and a degree in hospitality or related area of study. Degrees should be at least 180 ECTS equivalent.  They should have at least 3 years work experience in the hospitality industry.  Students would normally be at least 24 years of age.

 

Modules
The programme of studies comprises three taught modules, followed by an integrative module.

 

Individual Foundation (15 credits)

  • Managing Service Operations in the Evolving Business Environment
  • Business Research Methods
  • Human Resources and Career Management

 

Business Foundations of International Hospitality Management (15 credits)

  • Managerial Finance and Accounting
  • E-Business and International Services Marketing Management
  • Global Strategic Management

 

Specialisation module 1: Hospitality Industry Marketing (20 credits)

  • Marketing Research
  • Consumer Behavior


Two optional modules from the following:

  • Revenue Management
  • Brand Management
  • Integrated Marketing Communications
  • Design Management and New Product Development

 

Specialisation module 2: Hospitality Industry Leadership (20 credits)

  • Managing Organizations, Ideas, and Growth
  • Managing Technology, Operations and Processes

 

Two optional modules from the following:

  • Revenue Management
  • Challenges of Leadership
  • Cross Cultural Management
  • Entrepreneurship and Business Planning

 

Integrative Module (10 credits)

Upon completion of the academic modules, students complete one final summative paper to integrate the modules presented and develop new ideas. This includes preparatory input about current issues and questions; it is an independent study.

  • Start Dates: July and January
  • Duration:  40 week minimum programme of study. Students may be Full Time or Part Time.
  • Admissions Criteria: Students must have an English level of 575 TOEFL and a degree in hospitality or related area of study. Degrees should be at least 180 ECTS equivalent. They should have at least 3 years work experience in an appropriate professional area. These students would normally be at least 24 years of age.

  • Investment strategies for Financial Markets and Asset Management

 

Specialisation with Marketing (10 ECTS) Two optional modules from the following:

  • Consumer Behavior
  • Brand Marketing 
  • E-Marketing
